Free Stuff (If your lucky)

Oh what fun! Mormon Mommy Blogs is having a Giveohway with all sorts of fun prizes- All the prizes are great but I personally am crossing my finger's for the amazon gift card. I'm saving up for a pressure cooker so I can be a good little home canner...... Wish me luck!!!

All to save a dime....

Any frugal shopper knows Wednesday morning is shopping day- The grocery stores have just put our the new sales and all too often have a limited supply of the items in question meaning the early bird gets the worm.....

So with ads, coupons and the little man in tow I headed off this morning to my friendly neighborhood grocer to stock up on the "hot" items of the week. Once there I along with many other bargain hunters, happily tossed box after box of tasty cartoon endorsed cereals into the cart and headed to the checkout. (After all who wouldn't want 10 boxes of sugar coated goodness for just over a buck a piece?)

$1.27... $1.27.... $4.79... $ 4.79

Uh wait a minute.... Those Crispix were supposed to be on sale! Cashier's response: Dumbfounded look followed by call to Customer Service....

I didn't need to hear both sides of that conversation to figure out this was going to take awhile-

Are the Crispix on the Cereal sale?........ Oh? .......... I see?.......... Bob stocked?......... The customer said their on the display with the other sale cereals?....... I see............ OK........ Do what?....... What key?........ Um........
Needless to say it didn't take long for the customer service manager to actually come over to the register- A formidable mountain of a woman to say the least. I considered offering to switch the Crispix for another cereal but the manager was so busy punching in keys explaining the 'problem' to the checker that I was afraid to interrupt...

The numbers whirred past on the screen- a sample receipt was printed a number of times and carefully scoured by both women- who at last concurred that everything looked right.

Uh wait a minute! My total only dropped 60 cents? I'm not good at math but if you adjust the price on 4 boxes of cereal over three dollars a piece shouldn't that be like a $12 difference?

More scouring, receipt printing, and key punching followed...... Until tada... a correct total of $30.11 cents- not too bad for 10- boxes of cereal, 4-12 packs, 5 boxes of Bagel Bites, and 1 to go pack of Nutter Butters (a last minute effort to distract the little man during the extended checkout.)

I must say despite the time it took them to work it out, both gals were actually quite friendly and didn't act at all put out. (Unlike the lady in line behind us) Here's to another step in frugal living and a pantry full of sugar coated mornings!!! The lesson is WATCH THE PRICES ON THE SCANNER!!

Blissfully (im)Perfect

There is just something about it... opening my google reader each morning to see dozens of new posts to sort through. My mouse finger starts to twitch anxious to see what's new in bloggyland- I happily click through the posts pausing to admire a beautiful picture posted by the Pioneer Woman or to drool over a recipe from My Wooden Spoon. I drool over Amanda's perfect craft room and am in awe of Homemaking Dreams sewing skills. Then I spend some time perusing the masses of helpful information at the Prepared LDS Family or the Obsessive Shopper.

Trust me the list could go on and on- there are so many talented ladies out there! Jo here however, is not a gourmet cook, super creative crafter, awesome photographer, talented seamstress, or super savvy shopper. I guess you could call me a "Jo of all trades". Perfect in any? Heck NO! Not even close! But then if I were perfect... I'd miss all the fun I have learning from so many talented bloggers out there. So here's to blissful imperfection and dabbling in all the finer skills of family and home!

A Paddy's day Limrick....

There once was a blogger named Jo
Who many things did not know
But one crazy night
She decided to write
A blog - albeit so so....

Yes... I know..... Poetry is not my strong point.......
